Who doesn’t know Alice in Wonderland? This story was originally written by Lewis Carroll who titled it Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Now Walt Disney Pictures and director Tim Burton have made a new movie based on the well-known story. This movie is an epic 3D fantasy adventure starring talented actors.
The story of Disney’s Alice in Wonderland
The 19-year old Alice (played by Mia Wasikowska) is at her engagement party when she suddenly sees a White Rabbit running by… dressed in a suit and holding a watch! She runs after the White Rabbit and then falls into a rabbit hole. Unfortunately she can’t get any further from there on because she’s too big to fit through the door. But then she sees a potion labeled ‘drink me’. When doing so, she shrinks and is able to enter Underland. Apparently, she has been in Underland before, which she then mistakenly called Wonderland.
Alice is reunited with her childhood friends: the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Cheshire Cat, the Caterpillar, the Dormouse and Mad Hatter. She embarks on a magical journey to find her true destiny and end the Red Queen’s reign of terror.
Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter
Tim Burton likes to work with Johnny Depp. This talented director and famous actor have worked together for movies like Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, Johnny Depp plays the Mad Hatter and he does this brilliantly. His performance is stunning and proves once again what a talented actor he is. His character, the Mad Hatter, has been affected by mercury poisoning, an unfortunate side effect of the hat-making process. He used to be the hat maker for the White Queen and he has been anxiously awaiting Alice’s return.
Alice in Wonderland 3D
Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland is presented in Disney Digital 3D, RealD 3D and IMAX 3D. This means that viewers who go see Alice’s adventures in Wonderland will find themselves in the thick of the action and they will be dodging objects that seem to fly into the theatre. If only one could freeze the frames during the movie, so that all the tiny details could be studied.
Disney’s Alice in Wonderland with Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen is a great movie filled with fantasy. The mix of live action characters and 3D-characters puts the viewers right there in the story. The music of Danny Elfman completes the picture.
